Most women arrive not quite knowing what happens at a photoshoot.
They have imagined it, of course. Some version of bright lights, a photographer barking instructions, a lot of awkward standing around not knowing what to do with their hands. They have talked themselves into it and back out of it more than once. And then they arrive, and within the first twenty minutes, they realise it is nothing like that.
Understanding what happens at a photoshoot, a real one, changes everything about how you feel going in.
A luxury portrait experience does not begin on the day of your shoot. It begins with a consultation.
Before anything is booked, you will have a conversation about what you are hoping to create. What this session means to you. How you feel about being photographed. What you love about yourself and what you are less sure about. This is not a sales call. It is the foundation of a session that is built entirely around you.
From there, you will receive a client guide that walks you through everything: what to wear, how to prepare, what the day will look like. By the time your shoot date arrives, there should be nothing left to wonder about.

You arrive at our Furtho Manor Farm studio, a privately situated, beautifully appointed space that feels nothing like a commercial studio. There is no waiting room full of strangers. No fluorescent lighting. No sense of being processed.
You are welcomed in, offered a drink, and given time to settle. If nerves are present, which they often are, there is no rush to move past them. The session does not begin until you are ready.
Before the camera comes out, you will spend time with a professional hair and makeup artist. This is not incidental. It is a significant part of the experience.
Many women say this is the moment something shifts. Being looked after, sat down, attended to. Having someone focus entirely on making you look and feel your best. It sets the tone for everything that follows.

This is where most women's expectations are overturned.
A luxury portrait session is led and guided throughout. You will not be left to figure out where to stand or what to do. Every pose, every position, every adjustment is directed with care. Your job is simply to be present.
What this looks like in practice: gentle direction, natural conversation, moments of laughter, and a gradual building of ease that most women do not expect to feel as quickly as they do. The luxury photoshoot experience is deliberately paced. There is time to settle into each look, each mood, each version of yourself that the session draws out.
Many women choose a glamour portrait session to mark a milestone or simply to celebrate who they are right now. Others come for a more intimate boudoir experience. Some are here through the Fab Over 40 portrait experience, specifically created for women who are done waiting for permission to feel extraordinary. Whatever brings you, the process is the same: considered, personal, and entirely at your pace.
At the end of your session, or at a separate viewing appointment, you will see your images for the first time.
This is the part that is hardest to prepare women for.
Most people expect to pick a few they like. What usually happens is something quieter and more significant than that. They see themselves, often for the first time, as the people who love them have always seen them. Fully present. Beautifully lit. Completely themselves.
It is not unusual for there to be tears.

They say they wish they had done it sooner. They say they did not realise how much they needed it. They say the images do not look like them and then, a moment later, that they look exactly like them.
What actually happens during a luxury portrait photoshoot is this: you arrive as the woman who has been putting herself last, and you leave as someone who has been reminded, with some considerable evidence, that she deserves to be seen.
You do not need to have it all figured out before you get in touch. A conversation is the natural starting point, and it costs nothing.
